Crane C Hook Description
The Crane C Hook serves as a specialized lifting attachment designed for horizontal steel coil handling, named for its distinct C-shaped profile. This essential tool operates extensively in steel production facilities—including hot and cold strip mills—where it securely transports coils, work rolls, and heavy cylindrical materials across workstations, storage yards, terminals, and industrial facilities processing steel coils.
Structurally, each C-hook integrates reinforced concrete counterweights with alloy steel lifting arms featuring box-section tubing. The counterbalance system precisely aligns the load’s center of gravity with the lifting point, ensuring stable and controlled coil transfers that prevent material damage during hoisting operations.
Manufacturers offer adaptable configurations including beam, tubular, or welded-box designs to suit specific facility layouts. Custom protective interfaces—such as rubber pads, polyurethane buffers, or aluminum plates—can be applied at load contact points per customer requirements to safeguard sensitive materials during handling.

Crane C Hook Types
Counter Balanced C-hook
Uses built-in weights on the back to balance the load. Makes it much easier for the crane operator to tilt and position the hook, especially for uneven loads. Gives better control and safety.
Motorized Rotating C-Hook
Has an electric motor that lets the hook spin a full circle (360 degrees) while carrying a load. The crane operator controls it remotely. Perfect for precisely placing things like coils or dies without moving the whole crane.
Mill Duty C-Hook
Built extra tough with heavy steel plates and forgings. Made to survive the demanding, high-impact conditions of steel mills and foundries. Stronger in key areas like the hook curve and lifting points for maximum safety and long life in rough use.
Narrow Aisle C-Hook
Designed with a long, straight top section and a shallow hook curve. This shape lets you lift and place loads (like coils) very close together in tight warehouse aisles. Saves space by allowing taller stacks without needing wide aisles for the crane.
Paper Roll C-Hook
Made specifically for big, heavy paper rolls. Has a wide, smooth curve to support the roll without damaging it. Often has protective padding. May include features to stop the roll from turning or unwinding while moving.
Spring Balanced C-Hook
Uses powerful springs inside instead of weights to balance the load. This lets the operator tilt the hook easily with little effort. More compact than weight-balanced hooks, but the spring might limit how heavy a load it can balance.
C-Hook with Forks
Uses powerful springs inside instead of weights to balance the load. This lets the operator tilt the hook easily with little effort. More compact than weight-balanced hooks, but the spring might limit how heavy a load it can balance.
Double C-Hook
Heavy-duty lifting tools designed for coils, rolls and other round loads. They feature two opposing C-shaped arms. This dual-arm design supports the load securely from both sides, preventing tipping and swaying for safer, smoother handling.
